With my wife, I run our family company Óseyri Travel. I sit on the board of Vök baths and SAF (The Icelandic Tourist Industry).
My background is football. As kid, playing football was the most enjoyable thing I did and I was lucky enough to become a professional player including thirteen years in England, most of which was with Reading FC
Whilst at Reading FC I became injured and that was when the idea for a meaningful social website came to me. I shared that idea with Bob, when outside of the School where our children went. He was a stranger to me at the time, but to share my idea with him was a good decision, because without it our platform would not exist, nor have a chance of success.
I stopped playing football in 2012, and moved back to Iceland, soon starting to work in the tourist industry. Together with my wife I run our family company that mainly includes running and looking after our guesthouses in Egilsstaðir, East Iceland but also investing and taking part in some interesting projects.
The latest project we have taken part in is Vök Baths. This new bathing experience in East Iceland opened in the summer of 2019. That project would not have become reality if it was not for three local people working together for over six years, sharing their knowledge and know-how, for one goal. We persevered until we made it happen.
Ideas Shared is about sharing. Sharing ideas and knowledge is important, it helps others and sharing make you happy and it definitely enhances your life, especially when that sharing is turned into tangible action and results.
I live in the small village of Crowthorne in Berkshire with my wife and two boys.
After 13 years in the British Army, I became professionally qualified in Procurement and Supply (MCIPS) in 1994, mostly working in blue chip organisations such as Unipart, Ryder, Chubb, Fujitsu, Maersk and others.
Throughout my corporate life, change and transformation were ever present and I was lucky enough to get involved in some great projects. These included setting up an e-Procurement Consultancy from scratch and with zero budget; creating an outsourced solution for the NHS worth more than £170m; as well as conceiving and building a Healthcare Consortia.
In 1998, I first went online and starting building web sites. I also learnt internet marketing techniques from the likes of Jay Abrams in the US.
I love building online solutions so when I met Ivar, there was a clear meeting of the minds and I knew we had the potential to create something special for the Whole World. Our aim is to develop Ideas-Shared into a global internet experience, one that can help millions of people develop their own ideas. One that can help as many people as possible convert all types of thought into value and benefit.
Our Ideas-Shared journey has reached a new phase and we welcome you to join our family.
Footnote: As you can see, meeting new people to change and improve our world is feasible even today. If like us, you believe that you can make things happen, and want to make a difference in the world, then join us.
