Situation
Petra Sveinsdóttir spent decades collecting stones and minerals from across Iceland and displaying them in and around her home in Stöðvarfjörður.

Over time, her personal collection grew into a remarkable attraction now known as Petra’s Stone Collection.

Petra was also the grandmother of Ivar Ingimarsson (our co-founder), whose connection to this place makes it especially meaningful to share here.

Rather than a formal museum, the collection feels personal and authentic. Visitors move through rooms, gardens, and pathways filled with colourful minerals and natural history, all arranged by Petra herself.

The collection reflects a lifetime of curiosity, dedication, and connection to Iceland’s landscape.

For many travellers exploring East Iceland, Petra’s Stone Collection becomes one of the most memorable stops along the journey.
