LAST UPDATED ON
JANUARY 23, 2024
These guidelines (“Community Guidelines”) supplement and amend the Terms of Service (“ToS”), available at https://ideas-shared.com/terms-of-service. If there is any conflict between these Community Guidelines and the ToS, the applicable terms in the Community Guidelines will prevail. Capitalised terms not defined herein have the meaning set out in the ToS.
Ideas-Shared empowers individuals and organisations to share ideas, build connections, and take action to make a difference in the world. To maintain a constructive and respectful environment, it is essential that users follow our Community Guidelines, respecting others and using the platform in a way that is ethical, legal, and aligned with our mission.
Our Commitment to You
At Ideas-Shared, we are committed to fostering a positive and inclusive community where personal, professional, and societal ambitions can thrive. We believe in the power of shared ideas and collective action, and we encourage users to post thoughtful, solution-oriented content that drives real-world change.
Your Responsibilities as a Member of the Community
When using our Service, you agree to abide by the following guidelines. Violating these guidelines may result in suspension or termination of your account or access to the platform.
Prohibited Activities
To maintain a safe and constructive environment, you must not:
- Misuse the Service or Intellectual Property: Do not license, sublicense, sell, resell, rent, lease, transfer, assign, stream, distribute, timeshare, or commercially exploit any part of the Service. You must not modify, adapt, hack, reverse engineer, or gain unauthorised access to the Service, its related systems, or networks. Respect others’ intellectual property rights, and ensure that any content shared is your own or has been shared with permission.
- Act Deceptively or Fraudulently: Do not impersonate others, falsely claim affiliation with any person or organisation, or misrepresent your identity, role, or access level within the platform. Creating multiple profiles to evade the consequences of not adhering to the Community Guidelines or ToS is strictly prohibited.
- Post Harmful or Illegal Content: Content shared must not infringe upon any person’s privacy, be defamatory, abusive, or discriminatory, or violate any applicable law. This includes refraining from sharing content that is racist, hateful, obscene, libelous, or incites violence or illegal activity. We do not tolerate content that is sexually explicit, harassing, or invasive of personal privacy.
- Engage in Spamming or Unsolicited Activities: The use of our platform to send unsolicited messages, bulk mail, spam, pyramid schemes, or any other unauthorised communications is strictly prohibited. Ensure that your interactions on Ideas-Shared are respectful and relevant to the platform’s collaborative purpose.
- Introduce Harmful Software or Materials: You must not post, transmit, upload, link to, or store any files, materials, data, text, audio, video, images, or software that contain viruses, malware, Trojan horses, or any other malicious components designed to harm or disrupt the Service or its users.
- Disrupt the Integrity of the Service: Avoid any behavior that interferes with or disrupts the performance, security, or integrity of the Service. This includes “scraping” or unauthorised data extraction using bots or other automated tools. Any attempts to breach the platform’s security or exploit its vulnerabilities will lead to account suspension and potential legal action.
Encouraging Respectful and Solution-Focused Engagement
To foster meaningful discussion and collaboration, please:
- Focus on Solutions and Constructive Contributions: The purpose of Ideas-Shared is to promote actionable ideas and positive change. While it’s okay to share frustrations or challenges, we encourage users to frame their content in a solution-oriented way. Use your voice to drive meaningful conversations that explore ways to overcome challenges and improve personal, professional, or societal conditions.
- Engage in Civil Discourse: Healthy debate and diverse opinions are welcome; however, please remain respectful. Disagreement should be handled constructively, with an aim to understand and resolve issues rather than attack others personally.
- Promote a Safe and Inclusive Community: Our community thrives on inclusivity. Discrimination based on race, gender, sexuality, disability, religion, or any other protected characteristic will not be tolerated. We aim to build a community where everyone feels welcome and empowered to contribute.
Ensuring Privacy and Confidentiality
- Respect Personal and Third-Party Privacy: Never share personal or sensitive information (e.g., addresses, phone numbers, financial details) about yourself or others. Content shared within the platform should be intended for public discussion and collaboration, so do not share private information without consent.
- Confidentiality of Serendipitous Asks and Ideas: While Ideas-Shared encourages open sharing of ideas, users should be aware that any information posted is viewable by others. We recommend that users only share information they are comfortable being public and refrain from posting proprietary or confidential information that they do not wish to be disclosed.
Fair Usage Limits
To ensure the quality of the Service for all users, we enforce fair usage policies:
- Fair Use Applies to All Services: Even if a service is labeled as “unlimited,” it is subject to fair use. If we determine that your usage of the Service significantly exceeds normal levels, we reserve the right to take action, including limiting or suspending access, to maintain the Service’s integrity and performance.
- Monitoring and Addressing Excessive Usage: Should we find that your account, group, or API connection is exceeding fair usage, we will reach out to address the situation. Failure to comply or continued excessive usage may result in suspension or adjustment of service access.
Content Moderation and Enforcement
Ideas-Shared is dedicated to maintaining a safe and constructive platform:
- Content Monitoring and Reporting: While we cannot pre-moderate all content, we actively review reported content and reserve the right to remove any posts or profiles that violate our guidelines. Users are encouraged to report any content that breaches these guidelines or the ToS.
- Consequences of Violation: Breaches of the Community Guidelines or ToS may lead to warnings, content removal, account suspension, or permanent ban from the Service. Severe violations may result in legal action or referral to appropriate authorities.
